Selenium is a trace element that is essential for life in small doses, and is needed, among other things, for the normal functioning of the thyroid gland. Selenium is found naturally in our soils and in watercourses, but Sweden and Europe have selenium-poor soils. Selenium contributes to normal thyroid hormone production, protecting cells against oxidative stress, normal energy metabolism, normal function of the immune system, normal spermatogenesis and maintaining normal hair.
